1. When and why did you decide to become a Hike Leader:
We have been Certified Hike Leaders for the Toronto Bruce Trail Club for more than twenty years and we like it!
2. What's your favourite part of the Bruce Trail:
The picture is on the Bruce Trail in our favourite section, the Peninsula.
3. What's your favourite Toronto-section Trail area:
We have hiked the Bruce Trail from the bottom to the top as a Year 2000 celebration and 70 hikers finished the whole trail with us.
4. What do you love about volunteering with BTC:
Both of us are happiest when we have our boots on and those boots on a trail. We also lead hikes in the U.S. England, Ireland Scotland and Wales, the Camino in Spain and Portugal. This summer we will lead a group on the Azores.
5. Why should GTA residents get outside and enjoy the Bruce Trail:
Trained as an Air Force navigator Greg taught Map and Compass to hikers as a fund raiser for the Bruce Trail Conservancy. Greg chaired and was a member of the Hike Leader Training Committee for many years. Jeanette has a keen interest in the Spring Flowers along the trail, which she shares with the hikers. For fourteen years we have lead an 'Orchid Adventure' in Tobermory and Flower Pot Island.
We continue to lead hikes that are open to the public and enjoy introducing introducing those new to hiking to all the benefits that it brings.
